The 33rd Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival lineup includes the Sam Bush Band, Tim O’Brien Band, Del McCoury Band, Bela Fleck, Nickel Creek, Yonder Mountain String Band, Peter Rowan, Shawn Camp, John Cowan, Jerry Douglas Band, and Edgar Meyer. In addition, the festival features headliners the Barenaked Ladies, Bonnie Raitt, and John Prine. The annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival attracts nearly 10,000 “festivarians” to the historic mining town of Telluride (population 2000), nestled in the majestic San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado.
The RockyGrass festival, held in Lyons, Colorado July 28-30, 2006, will feature Blue Highway, Mountain Heart, Uncle Earl, Tony Trischka Bluegrass Band featuring Roland White, Stringdusters, Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings, The Wilders, Abigail Washburn, Richard Greene & the Brothers Barton. The festival was nominated in 2005 for the IBMA Bluegrass Event of the Year.
Planet Bluegrass is also proud to announce that Blue Highway, will join young Nashville stars The Stringdusters and the Tony Trischka Bluegrass Band featuring Roland White as bands-in-residence at the 2006 RockyGrass Academy, held at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO, July 23-27, 2006. Joining the 3 bands will be legendary fiddlers Darol Anger and Richard Greene, and guitarist and Acoustic Guitar Magazine editor Scott Nygaard. In addition to the instrument classes, the Academy includes a Bluegrass Camp for Kids led by the Bearfoot Bluegrass Band from Alaska and an instrument building course led by master luthiers Michael Hornick (Shanti Guitars) and Dan Roberts (Santa Cruz Guitars).
