Rock Hearts for Tony Rice

Beck Johnson with her Rock Hearts for Tony RiceThanks to Becky Johnson, longtime bluegrass fan, photographer and radio personality, who has hatched a beautiful plan for World of Bluegrass attendees to pay respect to our newest member of the IBMA Hall of Fame, Tony Rice. Regular readers of Bluegrass Today know that Tony has been ill of late, and has been forced to miss some shows this past few months.

Becky is also an avid nature walker, and has developed the habit of collecting heart shaped rocks as she comes across them on her strolls. Thinking this week of Tony and his struggles, it occurred to her that bluegrass fans would enjoy the theme of “Rock Hearts for Tony Rice,” as an a fun way to raise a few dollars for Tony and Pam.

So Becky collected her stones, and made up a nice basket where folks can leave a donation, and take a rock heart for their own. The basket is located in our Bluegrass Today booth in the Exhibit Hall this weekend. It will be open today from 1:00-5:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All funds collected will go directly to Tony.
