Country Grass now a touring band

Event Details

Lorraine Jordan's Country Grass

Coming off the success of her Bluegrass in the Blue Ridge, Blue Country Getaway festival in March, which was designed to purposely blend bluegrass and traditional country music on stage, Lorraine Jordan has announced that her secondary group, Country Grass, will now become a full-time touring act.

Born from a 2015 album she recorded with her bluegrass band, Carolina Road, for Pinecastle Records called Country Grass, Lorraine Jordan’s Country Grass Band performs classic country songs within a bluegrass setting. The album paired Lorraine and Carolina Road with country artists like Eddy Raven John Anderson, Marty Raybon, Lee Greenwood, The Kentucky Headhunters, and several others, who performed their big hits bluegrass style.

A second edition, Country Grass II, is set for release later this month, featuring the Country Grass Band alongside T. Graham Brown, Eddy Raven, Michael Martin Murphey, T.G. Sheppard, and a special collaboration with North Carolina favorites, The Malpass Brothers.

The Country Grass Band includes Allen Dyer,  who is also a member of Carolina Road and is Jordan’s partner in promoting festivals, on rhythm guitar and lead and harmony vocals, Kent Dixon on mandolin, plus lead and harmony vocals, Garrett Newton on banjo and lead vocals, Matt Hooper on fiddle, Tim Tew on lead guitar and reso-guitar, plus harmony vocals, and Lorraine Jordan on bass and lead and harmony vocals.

On select shows, reso-guitarist Duncan Stitt will join the ensemble as a special guest, and is recording on the new project.

In addition to their bookings at concerts and festivals around the country, the band also serves as a backup band for bluegrass singer/songwriter Larry Cordle on some of his live shows. They feature a repertoire of more than 50 classic country hits, performed in a bluegrass band. Dedicated fans of both bluegrass and country music report loving this live show, which is fun as well as musically diverting.
