Still Hangin’ On from Jimmy Haynes Band

Still Hangin' On - The Jimmy Haynes BandThe Jimmy Haynes Band has released a debut recording, Still Hangin’ On.

The newly-formed group from Northern Ohio is based around the singing and playing of founders Jimmy and Enola Haynes. Jimmy is on mandolin and Enola bass, with assistance from Glenn Hamilton on banjo, and both Scott Jackson and Jiles Williams on guitar. Jackson handles the lead guitar, and Williams shares lead vocal duties with Enola Haynes.

Contemporary bluegrass might be the best description for their sound, and the CD contains 11 tracks taken primarily from recent songs made popular in bluegrass and country music. There is one nod to the forefathers in Flatt & Scruggs’ Little Cabin Home On The Hill, and a grassified version of Keith Whitley’s mega-hit Miami, My Amy among the offerings.

You can hear audio samples on the band’s web site, at CD Baby or in iTunes.
