Skaggs & Hornsby Live in August

Event Details

Cluck Ol' Hen - Ricky Skaggs and Bruce HornsbySkaggs Family Records has set an August 20 release date for Cluck Ol’ Hen, a live album from Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby. The 11 tracks, which combine songs from previous recordings from both headliners, were recorded when the pair toured together with Skaggs’ band, Kentucky Thunder in 2008.

From the Hornsby repertoire come Gulf Of Mexico Fishing Boat Blues, The Dreaded Spoon, The Way It Is, and White Wheeled Limousine, the first two of which were included on their prior collaboration in 2007. He also offers a slow-paced, piano-fueled version of Darling Corey.

Skaggs’ cuts will be familiar to most of our readers: Sally Jo, Toy Heart and Bluegrass Breakdown (written and originally recorded by Bill Monroe), How Mountain Girls Can Love (a Stanley Brothers classic), and familiar old-timers Little Maggie and Cluck Ol’ Hen.

Some of the between song banter and song intros are also included.

Skaggs Family is offering a special pre-order giveaway, where anyone placing an order before the August release date will be entered to win free tickets to see Ricky and Bruce at The Ryman on October 5.
