Hey all you Country Gentlemen fans out there… Has Katy Daley got a deal for you!
On her morning show tomorrow on WAMU’s Bluegrass Country, Katy will spend two hours with Tom Gray talking about his early days with The Country Gentlemen, starting in 1960. They will play many classic tracks from that time, and discuss the larger-than-life personalities that populated the band (John Duffey, Eddie Adcock, Charlie Waller).
Tom will be on with Katy from 9:00-11:00 a.m. (EST) and is bringing some rare recordings from his own collection, most of which have only been heard by a very few people. For example, he has a tape from 1962 with Walter Hensley on banjo with The Gents. Katy says all the live stuff he has is golden.
WAMU’s Bluegrass Country’s signal can be heard in the DC Metro area at 105.5 FM, HD Radio 88.5 (channel 2), or worldwide online at bluegrasscountry.org.
Katy will be recording the show for additional subsequent airings, but nothing has been scheduled at this time.
She has also planned a repeat visit with Tom in the next few weeks to talk about the early days of Seldom Scene.
Sounds like appointment radio to me.
