John Cowan on Lonesome Pine RFD

John Cowan will be the interview guest on Friday’s (6/25) edition of Lonesome Pine RFD, airing on WFDU-FM from 9:00 a.m to noon (EDT). The Cow Man will call in from the road at 11:00; he is on the Doobie Brothers tour holding down the bass gig while their regular guy, Skylark, recovers from a serious illness.

Lonesome Pine host Carol Beaugard says that she plans to talk with John about his latest CD, The Massenburg Sessions, named in honor of audiophile recording and mastering engineer George Massenburg, who recorded and produced the CD. The entire project was tracked live in the studio, with no overdubs or editing of any kind. Massenburg even insisted on no headphones for the musicians in the studio. That should be an interesting conversation.

You can be sure that Carol will features several tracks from the new album as well, and get the skinny on the Dobbie Brothers tour.

WFDU airs at 89.1 FM in the New York City metro market, and is also streamed live at WFDU.org. If you miss the show live, it will be available in the station’s web archives for the next two weeks.
