A taste of SPBGMA on Periscope

WOBO FMIf you’ve never attended the annual SPBGMA convention in Nashville – and even if you have – you’ll be able to follow some of the fun this year on Periscope, thanks to the folks at WOBO in Batavia, OH. The free app is available for cell phones and tablets, and is designed as a simple vehicle for sharing video online.

WOBO will be hosting a suite showcase on the Friday and Saturday nights at SPBGMA (2/5-6) from 6:00 p.m. until midnight, local time. Six bands will perform each night, and on-site admission is free.

Rita Small, who hosts Bluegrass In The Valley with Tim Strong on Thursday evenings from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, will be streaming the live sets via Periscope.

Here’s their SPBGMA schedule…

Friday, February 5th:

  • 6:00 p.m.   –   Ma Crow & The Lady Slippers
  • 7:00 p.m.    –  Jeff Brown & Still Lonesome
  • 8:00 p.m.   –   Donna Ulisse & The Poor Mountain Boys
  • 9:00 p.m.   –   Jerry Salley
  • 10:00 p.m.  –  The New Balance
  • 11:00 p.m.   –  Hammertowne

Saturday, February 6th:

  • 6:00 p.m.   –   Brandon Adams
  • 7:00 p.m.   –   The Bluegrass Mafia
  • 8:00 p.m.   –   Clay Hess Band
  • 9:00 p.m.  –    Blue Mafia
  • 10:00 p.m.  –  Turning Ground
  • 11:00 p.m.  –  Darrell Webb Band

The station does simulcast their FM schedule online, but since there is no bluegrass typically programmed for Friday and Saturday nights, Rita says that Periscope seemed like the obvious solution.

So download Periscope for your smaller digital devices before the SPBGMA weekend, and prepare to enjoy the music online when the 5th rolls around.
