Bluegrass gospel stalwarts The Churchmen, have announced a fiddle swap.
Christian Gillikin, who started his second stint with the group in 2022, has decided to step aside for the classic reason, to have more time on weekends with his family and loved ones. He had been part of The Churchmen first in the mid-’90s, staying for a decade, and being part of their 1999 album, The Drifter.
Speaking jointly, the band expressed their gratitude for his service to their musical mission.
“The Churchmen would like to thank Christian for using his immense talent for the Lord and for his dedication to travel every week to be us over the last several years.”
Coming in to take his spot is Josh Green, from Monroe, North Carolina, where he teaches multiple instruments at his own school, known as Greene’s Music. You may recall seeing him with The King James Boys, or with other bluegrass artists like James King, Larry Stephenson, or Darin & Brooke Aldridge.
Josh says he’s very pleased to come aboard.
“I’m very thankful and excited for the opportunity to be part of The Churchmen. I’ve always loved bluegrass gospel music, and it means a lot to be able to use the music God has given me to encourage people and point them to the Lord.”
He joins founding member Keith Clark on bass, Jay Adams on banjo, Greg Jones on mandolin, and Keith Souther on guitar.
The Churchmen have a busy schedule of festival performances and church shows, which you check out online.
