Donna Ulisse Celebrates CD at WSM

Event Details

Showin' My Roots - Donna UlisseDonna Ulisse will celebrate the release of her new album Showin’ My Roots as a guest of Charlie Mattos and Bill Cody on WSM’s Coffee, Country and Cody show broadcast tomorrow Tuesday October 15, 2013, at 9:15am CT.

As well as talking about the new CD and having tracks played, Ulisse, along with her band The Poor Mountain Boys, will perform live some of the songs from Showin’ My Roots.

The show can be heard on the radio in much of the central US at 650 AM, or via streaming online.

The 13-song collection is dedicated to Ulisse’s musical influences, songsters like Loretta Lynn; Dolly Parton; Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens; and the Stanley Brothers.

In contrast to her previous six albums Ulisse covers some country classics such as the two Loretta Lynn hits Fist City and Somebody Somewhere; Tammy Wynette’s Your Good Girl’s Gonna Go Bad; the Merle Haggard hit In The Good Old Days When Times Were Bad, and Hank Locklin’s Send Me The Pillow You Dream On.

In addition, Showin’ My Roots features two new songs, the title track and I’ve Always Had a Song I Can Lean On, both written by Ulisse with her frequent co-writer, band-mate and husband Rick Stanley.

Helping out with the recordings on the CD were stellar instrumentalists Sam Bush (mandolin), Andy Leftwich (fiddle and mandolin), Rob Ickes (Dobro(R)), Scott Vestal (banjo), Bryan Sutton (guitar) and Byron House and Viktor Krauss (both on bass); and singing partners Rick Stanley, John Cowan, Larry Stephenson, Frank Solivan, Sam Bush, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Jerry Salley, Tony King, Greg Davis and Fayssoux McLean.

Showin’ My Roots was co-produced by Sutton and Ulisse.

The CD will be available at iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby and Donna Ulisse’s website.
