We have some more information about stolen instruments in the bluegrass world, of the good news/bad news variety.
First some good news. The banjo and guitar we reported as stolen from Luke Munday have been returned to him. The details are a bit murky, and Luke doesn’t want to say much about how he got them back, but he did say that the police were involved, and that he was very thankful for all the folks who helped spread the word.
Those of us who work in the music biz all recognize an instrument thief as a snake, but when it turns out to be someone you know, it is especially slithery. We have no confirmation that this is what happened here, but reading between the lines, it seems like a possibility.
Good news for Luke, and hats off to him for keeping ugly details to himself.
In the less fortunate news department…
Ersel Fletcher is still looking for his Henderson guitar (#525) which was stolen from the Smyth County Jam in Chilhowie, VA. This event is hosted every Monday evening, and the guitar was taken on August 27 of this year. It was removed from its case and carried off uncased, or in another.
He is asking that anyone with information on this theft please contact him, or the Smyth County Jam organizers.
