Phil Zimmerman to lead Music Camps North

Event Details

Phil ZimmermanMusic Camps North, who host the ever-popular Banjo Camp North and Mandolin Camp North each year, have named Phil Zimmerman as their new Director. The camps are held in Charlton, Massachusetts with a wide variety of instructors brought in to teach students at almost any level of skill and experience.

Zimmerman had been serving as the Musical Director for both camps since Mike Kropp purchased the business from founder Mike Holmes. He has taken over the top spot following Mike Kropp’s passing in November 2015.

Phil’s simple message upon assuming the Director’s position was this…

“I’m honored to be chosen to carry out Mike’s vision for the camps.”

Zimmerman is a highly-regarded player himself, widely known throughout New England as a mandolin, guitar, and banjo player. He has performed with many highly visible bands, like Last Fair Deal, Traver Hollow, Bluegrass Union, and American Flyer, and offers private lessons for both banjo and mandolin.

Phil is also an accomplished photographer whose images have been combined into the book Bluegrass Time, and are exhibited in the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY.
