Hurricane from Kristy Cox

Kristy Cox

Billy Blue Records has a new single for Australian-born bluegrass songbird Kristy Cox, set to release tomorrow (2/20).

Hurricane is a song about adjusting to the unexpected, which Cox says reflects her own reality of late.

“I’m so excited to be releasing new music.

Hurricane was written with my label mate Bob Minner, and is all about getting ready for — and embracing — change. The last two years of my life have brought more change than I ever expected, and this song became a way of leaning into that instead of fighting it.

I’m incredibly proud of this one and can’t wait for you to hear it.”

As always with Kristy’s music, it was produced by Jerry Salley, and recorded with Cody Kilby on guitar, Matt Menefee on banjo, Andy Leftwich on fiddle, Justin Moses on mandolin and reso-guitar, and Tyler Griffith on bass. Magnolia Williams and Jerry Salley added harmony vocals.

It’s a lovely song, demonstrating Cox’s penchant for seamlessly blending bluegrass and acoustic country. Check it out.

Hurricane will be available on February 20 from popular download and streaming services online. Pre-saves are enabled now.
