The Infamous Stringdusters in B&W

Event Details

The Infamous StringdustersLast night I had the good fortune to attend a performance by The Infamous Stringdusters. These guys have long been a favorite band of mine. This was the first time I’d seen them since the release of their new recording, Things That Fly. The show was in a small venue in Roanoke with a very casual, and intimate atmosphere.

The band performed a range of material from previous recordings, the newest CD, and cuts from the various member’s solo recordings. If you’ve listened to any of the online samples, then you already know these guys can pick. If you haven’t seen them live, then you need to check their tour schedule and get out to a show. There really isn’t anything like seeing/hearing live music, especially from a band like this.

In addition to being some of the best young pickers around, these guys are consummate performers who know how to have fun, and make sure their fans have fun too. Seeing them on stage, you never for a minute doubt that they are enjoying what they’re doing, and the great part is, they’re so open and honest about it that the audience gets completely drawn into the music and their joy in creating it. The result is a show that is both musically excellent and emotionally engaging. You feel like you’re part of something special that is happening. That’s a special gift that goes way beyond just being good muscians!

Due to the low light in the venue, and my desire not to disturb the vibe by using a flash, all the photos I’m giving you are in black and white. You’ll have to see them live to catch the colors!
