The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Owensboro, KY, has announced a new weekly concert series beginning August 12. Called Sounds of Bluegrass, the concerts will be held in the museum’s Woodward Theatre at noon each Wednesday.
The concerts will feature musicians and songwriters from across Kentucky as well as from the Nashville area, including both established and up-and-coming bluegrass artists. Ruth McLain Smith, bass player with the McLain Family Band, will perform for the inaugural concert. Smith, a native of eastern Kentucky who is also a longtime instructor at Morehead State University’s Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, is a recipient of the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award and a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.
Other artists who will be performing as part of Sounds of Bluegrass over the upcoming weeks include:

- August 26 – Brenna McMillan
- September 2 – Laura Orshaw
- September 9 – Danny Roberts
- September 16 – Corinna Rose Logston
- September 23 – Timothy Baker
- September 30 – Matt Leadbetter
Tickets for the concerts are $10, or included as part of museum admission. Museum members can attend for free.
