Scratch Gravel Road – Special Consensus

Scratch Gravel Road - Special ConsensusAnother highly-anticipated CD scheduled for release this month is Scratch Gravel Road, the 16th album from Special Consensus over the course of 37 years in the biz. It is set to hit March 27 on Compass.

Founding member and owner/operator Greg Cahill tells us that he is eager to get the new CD in hand, and feels like he has the right team in place to get it out there.

“We are all very excited about this Special C release – I truly believe there is a special chemistry amongst us and we are all thoroughly enjoying every time we play together. We also realize how fortunate we are to have such great songs from fantastic songwriters and we can’t say enough about the good staff at Compass Records.

Working with Alison Brown as producer (and Garry West for business details) was a true joy and a privilege. And our booking person Maria Nadauld has coordinated much of the media promotion with the label folks – we really have a winning team.

The only not so positive issue we are dealing with now is that out trusty travel van, Snowball, decided to shut down on I-70 Sunday, en route from our show in Valley Falls, KS to Nashville, and she is still not cooperating with the mechanics in Sedalia, MO, where she was towed. Getting a bit nervous that reaching the half-million mile mark sounded the death knoll for old Snowball.”

Greg and the guys have put together a video to help introduce Scratch Gravel Road, and share a few thoughts about the songs, working with Alison Brown, and the band’s longevity in the bluegrass world.
