Rob Ickes – new CD/DVD

Rob Ickes - Contemporary Dobro ArtistryBlue Highway’s resophonic guitar master Rob Ickes has a new project released this week (8/8).

Contemporary Dobro Artistry is a CD/DVD set from Mel Bay Publications that offers both CD audio and DVD video of Rob in a variety of live (in-studio) performance settings.

The DVD features Rob playing in duet with Andy Leftwich on mandolin and then with pianist Michael Alvey, followed by two solo pieces with Rob and his guitar. There is also an interview with Rob and a photo gallery in this DVD that runs just over an hour.

The bonus audio CD has the music from all 17 cuts on the DVD, which include songs and tunes that Rob has recorded (Old Rugged Cross, Monrobro, I’m Thinking Tonight Of My Blue Eyes), some traditional favorites (Angeline The Baker, Wayfaring Stranger, Blackberry Blossom) and a number of jazz standards (Lullaby Of Birdland, Stars Fell On Alabama).

The CD/DVD set sells for $29.95 and can be ordered online, or purchased wherever Mel Bay titles are sold.
