Red Camel Collective looks forward to solo career

Event Details

Red Camel Collective

We wrote recently about Junior Sisk’s new band, who will start with him later this year and continue through next as he slides into retirement. The reason is that his current touring band is going on solo without him, with his most certain approval, as Red Camel Collective.

In fact, they have been touring on their own for the past three years, as Junior’s schedule allowed. Sisk had encouraged them to do so, as he knew that his getting off the road was nigh, and realized what a strong group they would be on their own with Heather Berry Mabe as the lead vocalist.

Their last show with Junior will be in July, and they already have an active schedule booked as Red Camel Collective going forward. A debut album with Pinecastle Records has been very well received, and the band is finishing up work on a second even now.

Mandolinist Johnathan DIllon, who has worked with Sisk the longest of the Camels, says that they have all enjoyed playing with him.

“As we reflect on our time with Junior, as The Junior Sisk Band, we are grateful for all the good times, music played, and miles traveled together. We are proud to have been a small part of his many successful years in the industry.”

Heather, who is a powerhouse rhythm guitarists as well as a strong singer, says that they are eager to see what lies ahead.

“This next chapter feels like everything we’ve been working toward. We’re proud of where we came from, and even more excited about where we’re headed as Red Camel Collective.”

Rounding out the group are Heather’s husband, Tony Mabe on banjo and harmony vocals, and Curt Love on bass.

Here’s their recent single, In The Mexican Sun.
