NFR – Live At The Down Home

Tim Shelton checked in yesterday with some further details about the upcoming NewFound Road CD, Live At The Down Home. It was… wait for it… recorded live at The Down Home in Johnson City, TN on December 4.

Rounder Records has announced April 26 for the release of the audio CD, but has not yet suggested a firm date for the accompanying DVD. It was shot during that same 12/4 Down Home show, and is expected this Fall.

Tim offered a brief preview of the new live CD:

“The live record showcases the latest lineup of NewFound Road with Jamey Booher on bass and vocals, Joe Booher on mandolin and vocals, Josh Miller on banjo, guitar and vocals, and myself on lead/harmony vocals and guitar. This lineup has been together now for over two years so its definitely past due to get something out for fans to hear.

There’s quite a bit of energy in our live shows, and I wanted to feature that. These guys are great players to have around me and deserve to be heard!

Jim VanCleve sat in on fiddle with us on this record, and Grammy winner David Hall engineered the recording. Musically it features some traditional, bluesy bluegrass material as well as more contemporary music that we include in our shows. There are two brand new songs from Josh Miller as well!”

Tim also said that the DVD will feature additional music not included on the CD, plus band interviews and other bonus footage. Sounds like a winner.
