New single from Bobby Osborne

New Bluegrass & Old Heartaches - Bobby OsborneRural Rhythm has dropped a single from New Bluegrass & Old Heartaches, their upcoming project for Bobby Osborne & The Rocky Top X-Press.

The song is I’m Going Back To The Mountain, a Jake Landers composition that had been recorded by The Osborne Brothers in the 1970s about the time they left Decca Records for CMH, and as a result, was never released. Better late than never – even 30+ years later!

Keeping the Sonny and Bobby vibe alive, Rocky Top X-Press banjo man Michael Toppins plays a six string banjo on this cut. Sonny Osborne had made the use of this customized banjo, a regular 5 string with an extra low note, a signature feature of his sound during the ’70s, though he eventually abandoned it after finding it detrimental to his right hand technique.

Also featured are Glen Duncan on fiddle, Joe Miller on guitar, and Bobby Osborne Jr. on bass, with Bobby Sr. on mandolin and lead vocal.

New Bluegrass & Old Heartaches is set for a May 22 release. Radio programmers can download the single now from Airplay Direct.
