Rural Rhythm has dropped a single from New Bluegrass & Old Heartaches, their upcoming project for Bobby Osborne & The Rocky Top X-Press.
The song is I’m Going Back To The Mountain, a Jake Landers composition that had been recorded by The Osborne Brothers in the 1970s about the time they left Decca Records for CMH, and as a result, was never released. Better late than never – even 30+ years later!
Keeping the Sonny and Bobby vibe alive, Rocky Top X-Press banjo man Michael Toppins plays a six string banjo on this cut. Sonny Osborne had made the use of this customized banjo, a regular 5 string with an extra low note, a signature feature of his sound during the ’70s, though he eventually abandoned it after finding it detrimental to his right hand technique.
