New look for Valerie Smith

Event Details

Valerie Smith & Liberty PikeBluegrass songstress Valerie Smith is introducing a newly-revamped version of her touring group, Liberty Pike. Though it features all female musicians, Valerie said that this wasn’t her aim when assembling the new band, it just sort of happened organically.

Joining her on the road this year will be Corrina Rose Logston on fiddle, Laura Ray on guitar, Robin Thixton on banjo, and Vickie Vaughn on bass. Val will be on mandolin and lead vocals, with assistance from everyone on harmonies. She is especially excited about the fact that Vickie, Corrina and Robin are also songwriters.

Smith put together this video to introduce her new band to the bluegrass world.

Valerie is finishing up a new album now, and said that she may include her new group on a few cuts, but wants to have a full season on the road together before making a band record.

You can keep tabs on their whereabouts online.
