For his latest single with Mountain Fever Records, bluegrass singer and songwriter Shannon Slaughter has chosen another of his co-writes, one he and Jack Clark put together with the lackadaisical title, I Ain’t Done Jack All Day.
It’s one that he says has a lot of his own experience in it.
“John Clark brought this song to me, and from the moment I heard it, it felt like it was written for my life. I grew up in a hardworking, blue-collar family where, after a long day’s work, it was time to kick back, crack open a cold one, and enjoy a little well-earned rest. The song tells the story of a man who just can’t seem to stop working, even though all he wants is to join his buddies and unwind after a hard day. I think that’s something just about all of us can relate to from time to time!”
This one is a fun number that celebrates the hard-working lifestyle with a clever bit of whimsy.
Assisting on the track are Trevor Watson on banjo, Ronald Inscore on mandolin, Michael Cleveland on fiddle, and Cliff Bailey on bass. Slaughter plays guitar, and Jacob Greer adds harmony vocals to Shannon’s lead.
