Hear Del live at NEA concert online

The National Endowment for the Arts will offer a live webcast of Friday’s (9/24) concert celebrating the 2010 National Heritage Fellowships recipients. This concert is an annual event, but this will mark the first time that it is available via a live video stream online.

The fellowships are awarded each year to artists in a variety of fields to honor a lifetime of contributions to American culture. The honor conveys both prestige, and a cash award of $25,000.

This year’s concert holds special interest for bluegrass fans, as it will include performances from Del McCoury and Jim β€œTexas Shorty” Chancellor, both of whom are among the 2010 fellows.

The show will begin at 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday evening. Instructions for viewing the webcast will be posted at the National Endowment for the Arts web site on Friday afternoon.
