Grascals battle the heat for new video shoot

The first video from the latest Grascals CD, The Famous Lefty Flynn’s, is likely hit in the next few weeks. The song is Last Train To Clarsksville, written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, and the first of several hits for The Monkees back in 1966.

As luck would have it, the shoot was scheduled for June 24, when the Nashville area – and much of the southeastern US – was in the throes of an historic heat wave, which continues to this day. Temperatures made their way towards 100 degrees as the guys (and gal) tolied in the hot summer sun for your entertainment pleasure.

They shot at a number of locations in and around Nashville, and looking at these still photos, one would assume that the video takes a more fun, frivolous take on the song that had a subtextual Vietnam War reference when it was first released in the 1960s.

No word yet on when the video will be released, but as the song has just shipped to country radio as a single, don’t bet on it being too long in coming. Will this be the song that takes The Grascals to a wider audience?
