Della Mae CD to hit in September

Well, it looks like the gals in Della Mae were successful with the crowdsourcing project we highlighted last month, as they have announced a September release for their debut full-length CD, I Built This Heart.

The band, based in Boston, consists of Kimber Ludiker on fiddle, Jenni Lyn Gardner on mandolin, Amanda Kowalski on bass, and Celia Woodsmith on guitar and lead vocals. Their name, of course, comes from the Osborne Brother’s hit, Big Spiked Hammer, an interesting choice for a band that works sans banjo.

Guests on the CD, advance copies of which are available now at their shows, include Alison Brown, Laurie Lewis, Brittany Haas, and Emma Beaton. Girl power, baby!

We’ll be looking forward to hearing this one.
