Del McCoury and Preservation Hall

McCoury Music has released a new CD featuring bluegrass superstars the Del McCoury Band and New Orleans’ jazz traditionalists, Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

American Legacies puts these two legendary ensembles together for 12 tunes that blend bluegrass and New Orleans jazz, both of which have evolved from authentic southern musical traditions. This unique pairing came about when Del and the boys were invited to participate in Preservation Hall’s 2010 release, Preservation, a portion of whose proceeds went to benefit the Hall and its mission.

The two groups are now touring together, each doing a set by themselves, followed by another with the whole hee-haw gang.

Here’s a video Del and the Jazz Hallers put together to spread the word about the CD.

You can hear audio from all 12 tracks in iTunes, or on the McCoury Music web site.
