Bluegrass Jamboree 2010

The package show Bluegrass Jamboree is once again winding its way across Germany this December, just as they did on the debut pilgrimage last year.

The tour is managed by Rainer Zellner, who has long promoted bluegrass music in Germany. It is designed to introduce the style to German music lovers who while they may have some knowledge of American folk music, have probably not had a chance to see a top, professional bluegrass band in concert.

For 2010, Bluegrass Jamboree features the hard-hitting grass of Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, alternative/original bluegrass from Jeff & Vida, and contemporary western swing from Shotgun Party.

Rainer put this video promo together during IBMA 2010 to help the German audience get a feel for what is in store.

He also has a fine overview of the music on the Bluegrass Jamboree site, on a page entitled “Bluegrass – was ist das?”

The tour started last week with remaining dates right through December 18 in Offenburg. You can see the full schedule online.
