Bluegrass fans in east Tennessee will have the chance to help out one of their own on March 22, as several well known musicians come together to support Kevin Love.
Love, a banjo and guitar player who has been involved in the bluegrass scene in the Tri-Cities area for many years, has recently had a lengthy hospital and rehabilitation stay after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Love was hospitalized in mid-January and has faced a loss of feeling from the waist down that left him unable to walk. Though intense therapy has helped him regain some movement, he still has a long road to go to get back to his normal routines. According to a GoFundMe set up for his family, Love, who works in sales and is his family’s sole provider, is facing not only a loss of income but also mounting medical bills due to a lack of health insurance.
In order to help Love and his family as he works toward recovery, a benefit concert will take place March 22 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Addilynn United Methodist Church in Bristol, TN. The concert will include performances from Sammy Shelor and Friends, Cedar Valley with special guest Matt Leadbetter, and Duty Free. Concert admission will be donation only, with all proceeds going directly to Love to help with medical expenses.
In a post on his Facebook page, Love expressed thanks to those who have planned the event.
“I’m so incredibly thankful and humbled that this even has been put together to help me and my family. I hope to see so many of you there.”
