Darren Nicholson has announced two new full-time members of his touring band, Brady Wallen on banjo and Sarah Griffin on bass.
The mandolinist and singer/songwriter has found favor with both radio and consumers, as well as live audiences, since his departure from Balsam Range at the end of 2022. A warm singing voice and sparkling stage personality help deliver his new music to an ever-growing fan base.
Nicholson says that his new bandmates fit perfectly with his sound.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to play music with Sarah Griffin and Brady Wallen. I’ve been knowing them for quite a while, and their music absolutely elevates me to a different level. This means new sounds and new material. I want to keep evolving, and they are a perfect fit.
I can’t wait to see what this new chapter holds. And I think folks who come out to see the new band will be as blown away by their music as I am.”
Sarah is a graduate of the ETSU Bluegrass, Old Time, and Roots Music program, and spent the past three years as part of Wyatt Ellis’ band. She will also share in the harmony singing with Darren.
Brady also attended ETSU to study bluegrass, and has performed with a number of groups on guitar or banjo, including the Amanda Cook Band, the Clay Hess Band, and the Burnett Sisters Band. He plans to also continue playing with Michael Prewitt & Crunchgrass Supreme when the schedule allows.
They join Avery Welter on guitar and vocals, who was part of the Shedhouse Trio with Griffin and Wallen in the past. Something of a reunion, it seems.
