The Reel World String Band on RBI

Event Details

This week’s edition of Best Of Bluegrass on Radio Bluegrass International will feature an in-studio performance by The Reel World String Band, an all-female old time string band from Lexington, KY.

The ladies visited with host Bob Mitchell at the RBI studio, located within the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY. Bob says that they laid down some great old time tunes, and shared about their commitment to protecting the environment as well as issues related to the plight of coal miners and women’s rights.

Sue Massek is on banjo, Bev Futrell on guitar and harmonica, Karen Jones on fiddle, Elise Melrood on piano, and Sharon Ruble on bass.

Best Of Bluegrass airs each Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. (EDT) and repeats on Sundays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (EDT). To listen online, just visit the IBMM site, and then click on the RBI logo in the upper left.
