Rob Ickes asked us to share this note regarding his absence at Thursdays IBMA Awards show, and his resulting inability to accept the 2011 Dobro Player of the Year award in person.
“I wish I could have been at the awards show Thursday night. My wife and daughter have had pneumonia, and I’m battling some kind of bronchial infection. Been a rough week here at the Ickes house!
Winning the Dobro award is quite an honor and I really appreciate it – thanks to the IBMA voting members for all the support, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to express my thanks in person at the Ryman.”
