Skaggs & Rice vinyl reissue in April

Event Details

Skaggs & RiceSugar Hill Records has announced that they will re-release the classic Skaggs & Rice album on vinyl as part of their annual celebration of Record Store Day on April 12.

This 1980 recording from Ricky Skaggs and Tony Rice has been one of the top-selling acoustic projects of all time, and is widely heralded as a sonic and artistic masterpiece. It showcases the power that exists in simple, traditional melodies that have survived over the years, especially as performed by a pair of true masters.

Fun fact: in his biography, Still Inside, Rice relates that this iconic album wasn’t a carefully crafted plan, but instead a spontaneous decision between he and Skaggs to record a set of duets, literally on the spur of the moment. Additionally, Rounder Records, with whom Tony was under contract at the time, passed on the project so it went to Sugar Hill. I bet Rounder is still smarting over that one!

Sugar Hill says the vinyl reissue has been remastered from the original analog tapes. This is one that vinyl collectors will surely be adding to their stock.
