Lonesome River Band with The Saline Fiddlers

Event Details

The Saline FiddlersWhen Lonesome River Band performed in Michigan this past weekend in support of their latest release, Chronology Volume Three, they spent part of Saturday afternoon with a young fiddle troupe called The Saline Fiddlers.

LRB did a workshop with the troupe, which has been providing instruction and performance opportunities for high school students in Saline, MI since 1994 under the direction of Ben Culver.

The Fiddlers opened the show that evening, and returned to the stage to join Lonesome River Band for the final number. The concert was filmed by Saline Community Television Network for local access cable rebroadcast, and they have provided footage of the joint grand finale.

Sammy Shelor, LRB’s fearless leader was very impressed with the young fiddlers he met up north.

“This is a very talented and well-coached troupe. During the workshop, we decided we would do one together on the show. Only a few of the students knew the song [Whiskey Before Breakfast], but the director taught it to them in sections, and within a few minutes, we were all playing together.”
