Grisman, Leslie, Hargreaves & Smith release The Brotet

Event Details

The Brotet

Fans of acoustic string music who appreciate more exploratory instrumental composition styles will do well to investigate The Brotet, a new side project from Sam Grisman, Dominick Leslie, Alex Hargreaves, and Nat Smith. Each of the four is a virtuosic player, and a fearless improvisor, and between them they have created four new pieces for this project, and added an Irish dance classic.

Grisman was the founding bass player with The Deadly Gentlemen, until he split the Boston scene for Nashville. He is also the Son of Dawg. Leslie remains mandolinist with those Gentlemen, and Smith and Hargreaves are the other 2/3 or the Sarah Jarosz Trio.

The music is fresh and clever, and as clearly informed by old time and bluegrass traditions, as have been similar superstar projects like Strength In Numbers and Goat Rodeo Sessions. If you enjoyed those albums, you’ll love this one as well.

Check them out in the bandcamp player below.

The Brotet can be purchased for digital download online.
