Rockford Express – Straight From Bluegrass Hill

Straight From Bluegrass Hill - Rockford Express

Straight From Bluegrass Hill is the name of the debut album from North Carolina’s Rockford Express.

The band has been picking together for six years, growing out of a regular jam in Yadkinville, just west of North carolina’s famed Research Triangle. Crackerjack banjo player Andy Lowe tells us that the record’s title comes from the street where mandolinist and founder Randy Willard lives, which is named Bluegrass Hill.

You could say he was destined to form a band.

In addition to Lowe and Willard, Rockford Express consists of Tim Parks on bass, Rick Lowe on fiddle and Joey Hall on guitar. All five share in the singing.

Andy sent along a few audio clips from the CD. First a band original, then an old classic, and a song made popular in contemporary bluegrass by Charlie Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out.
