Many Bluegrass Today readers have enjoyed the music of The Arizona Wildflowers, a group of talented siblings from Casa Grande, AZ whose singing and playing has turned heads all over the US. They have also enjoyed following the young Dietrich girls as they compete at the highest levels as rodeo competitors and horsewomen.
Today we have news that two of the girls, Brie and Aspen, who play guitar and fiddle respectively, have qualified for the 2026 Junior World Rodeo Championships in Las Vegas, NV this December.
Their mom, Tiffany Dietrich, shared the big announcement.
“Brie, age 16, has qualified in 19 and under Barrel Racing on her grey quarter horse, Kenny. Last year Brie and equine teammate, Lu, competed at the event in Breakaway Roping.
Aspen, age 14, has qualified in 19 and under Goat Tying on her bay quarter horse mare, Drifter, for the second consecutive year. In 2025, Drifter was awarded the special honor of ‘Top Horse.'”
Additionally, the four oldest siblings have qualified for the National Little Britches Rodeo in Oklahoma City this June. Sawyer, age 11, will compete in Ribbon Roping, Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying, Aspen will compete in Pole Bending and Trail Course, and Brie will compete in Trail Course. Eldest sister Ranelle, 17, will compete in Pole Bending, which Tiffany says is her favorite event.
As the family has gotten more involved with rodeo, their music style has gradually moved into western swing, which they perform as well as they do traditional bluegrass and old time music.
Here they are singing the national anthem to kickoff a recent event.
The Wildflowers stay as busy as they can playing music, as much as their school, lessons, and rodeo obligations allow. Just recently they performed with Darin & Brooke Aldridge in Scottsdale.
We wish the best of luck to all the Dietrichs in their upcoming competitions!
