The Krauss Plant

Word has it that Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, of Led Zeppelin fame, will be in Nashville this coming week working on a new duet record. Two of the studio musicians lined up so far are Dennis Crouch on bass and Marc Ribot on guitar.

No idea what type of material they plan on covering or a tentative release date, but the studio time has been booked. Can’t wait to hear what that will sound like. All I can say is WOW!

Apparently, the inspiration for the project was the wonderful record by her younger brother Viktor Krauss. Alison sings Plant’s “Big Log” on that project with amazing results.

Cheers, Phil

    update:

The recording sessions is in LA instead of Nashville, and newly added to the project is Riley Baugus.
T-Bone Burnette has his hands on this project as well.

  • Jon Weisberger

Actually, at least one session is being done in Nashville this week.

There was definitely a Plant sighting this week in Nashville. It wasn’t by myself or I likely would have lost it.

Yup, I’ve heard plenty of Plant sightings this past week. The best one was that he was in Arnold’s for a meat and three last week. Turns out that the first sessions were in Nashville as was originally reported here.

Some other recent sightings I have wandered into recently:
Martina McBride in front of me at the Green Hills Wild Oats checkout. Jon Bon Jovi at the Mercy Lounge kicking back a Coors Light during the AMA fest. Bonnie Raitt at the Station Inn sitting in the Flatt & Scruggs bus seats. William Shatner at the Station Inn sitting in the very center of the room, must be habit for the Captain. Only in Nashville
