Craft Recordings has announced their next remastered vinyl project, and it’s a doozy.
Releasing September 25 is an all-analog vinyl reissue of The Bluegrass Album, among the most seminal albums in the history of our music. Originally to have been a Tony Rice recording session in 1981, it became such a group effort that Rice wanted everyone credited.
J.D. Crowe was on banjo, Doyle Lawson on mandolin, Bobby Hicks on fiddle, and Todd Phillips on bass. Together they defined contemporary bluegrass for a generation, with a lasting impact still being felt today. Rice and company recorded a set of classic songs from the early pioneers of our music, setting a standard yet to be surpassed among traditional bluegrass artists.

This album caused such a stir upon its original release, that this same outfit, with minor changes, went on to record five more albums as The Bluegrass Album Band, with some limited touring due to the intense demand.
Also releasing on September 25 is a digital version of The Bluegrass Album, also remastered from the original tapes. The digital download is listed for $10, and the vinyl pressing for $30.
