We found a number of articles on various news sites which we think will be of interest to our readers. Here they are, in no particular order:
CMT.com has an interview with Rhonda Vincent featured on their site, in which she discusses her newly released CD, All American Bluegrass Girl. Rhonda talks about how she came to include duets with both Bobby Osborne and Dolly Parton, and comments on her close friendship with Dolly. She even takes on the question of her “new look,” featured prominently on the cover of the new CD.
John Gerome, Associated Press music writer, has a lengthy interview feature with Ralph Stanley appearing in a number of papers today. We found a link at the Pensacola News Journal site. The article provides a brief overview of Dr. Ralph’s career, with Gerome getting him on the record about retirement (not yet), and some reflections about the decision to continue performing after Carter’s death in 1966.
We also found some follow-up reporting from the Herald Dispatch in Huntington, WV about Ernie Thacker, and the status of his recovery from a serious auto accident in April. We have posted a number of times, both about Ernie’s progress, and the various efforts underway to assist the Thacker family as they face a long recovery and some staggering medical bills.
The Herald Dispatch piece is largely focused on a concert scheduled for next Sunday (6/11) to raise money for Ernie’s expenses, organized by Don Rigsby and Melvin Goins. Details about making contributions to the relief fund can be found on the Ernie Thacker web site.
