Louisville sez… don’t forget us!

Raleigh, NC is not the only city wooing IBMA’s World of Bluegrass once its contract with the Nashville Convention Center expires this year.

Lousiville, KY – which hosted the event prior to the move to Nashville – has also launched a campaign to bring WOB back to the Banks of the Ohio. They have a web site extolling the virtues of Bringing Back The Bluegrass, with a video to help make their case.

It will be very interesting to see how this decision is made.

I HOPE the IBMA will consider the financial impact on its membership. Beautiful conference centers and paths along the river are nice, but room prices north of $200 make it difficult for the average member to attend.

I totally understand the cost concerns, but personally enjoy it being held in Nashville. It is convenient for those flying in and for the many artists who live in the area. I also enjoy having other diversions nearby such as music clubs and restaurants if you want to leave the “campus”.
