The nominees to be announced this evening represent the second stage of voting by the professional membership of the IBMA. The first ballot allows members to suggest potential nominees in 17 member-selected categories. A second ballot presents the top five vote-getters from the first ballot, the results of which determine the final nominees. An additional six awards have nominees chosen by committee, with the IBMA Panel of Electors choosing the winners. This panel, made up of 200-300 members with more than 10 years experience in the bluegrass industry, also choose two Hall of Fame inductees each year.

Five Distinguished Achievement recipients will also be announced at the press conference, selected by a special committee.

The International Bluegrass Music Awards will be presented on September 26 at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh, NC. Tickets are available now.
