Mark Meatto’s brilliant documentary, How To Grow A Band, will soon be finding its way to your favorite digital device and, hopefully, your DVD and BluRay player.
The film follows the Punch Brothers’ initial 2008 tour in support of Chris Thile’s The Blind Leaving The Blind, his 40 minute, through-composed piece in four movements. Meatto captured a very candid portrait of the band at a time when their eventual success was not yet a sure thing, combining brilliant moments on stage along with some tense moments backstage and on the road.
The film debuted during the Spring of 2012 in limited theatrical release and Mark tells us that it will be available for download purchase shortly in iTunes, and from other digital movie platforms soon thereafter.
He has also taken to Kickstarter to raise the necessary funds for a DVD/BluRay release, using this video as a teaser/trailer.
