First LRB single from Chronology hits

Lonesome River Band has dropped a debut single from the first volume of their 30th anniversary project, Chronology. The album will be released in three volumes by Rural Rhythm, each in an 8-song EP format covering one decade of the band’s illustrious history, the first of which is set for release on February 28.

To get things started, radio programmers are invited to download an airplay copy of Close The Door Lightly When You Go from Airplay Direct. Longtime LRB fans will recall this track , written by Eric Anderson, as the opening track from the band’s 1988 Saturday Night, Sunday Morning LP on Rebel. At that time, the band consisted of Tim Austin on guitar, Jerry McMillan on bass and lead vocals, Brian Fesler on banjo, and Adam Steffey on mandolin.

For the 2012 version, the song is performed by the current edition of the band, with their newest member featured on lead vocals. Sammy Shelor is on banjo, Mike Hartgrove on fiddle, Brandon Rickman on guitar, Barry Reed on bass, and newbie Randy Jones on mandolin.
