Dr. Banjo scholarship deadline approaches

Two scholarships for Pete Wernick’s Advanced Banjo Camp in January 2012 are still available, but the deadline for applications is December 5, only a few days away.

One $1,000 scholarship covers almost all expenses for an out-of-state attendee and is being offered through the generosity of Stelling Banjos.

The scholarships are intended for advanced players (members of bands or with band experience) who would otherwise have difficulty affording to attend the camp. The focus of the camp is tone, timing, “believability,” creativity, band dynamics and performance. All ages are welcome.

Applicants should send a letter and a music sample, which can be Emailed or sent by postal mail. The deadline for receipt is December 5 and winners will be informed the following week.

The Advanced Camp, which and takes place in Boulder, Colorado, begins on January 16 and continues through to January 21.

There are still vacancies for Wernick’s 2012 Basic Skills and Intermediate Banjo Camps.

The full schedule for 2012 Banjo Camps is as follows …

  • January 2-7: Basic Skills Banjo Camp
  • January 9-14: Intermediate Banjo Camp
  • January 16-21: Advanced Banjo Camp
