Donna Ulisse to play RedLight Cafe in Atlanta on April 16

DonnaUlisse_live Donna Ulisse and her band The Poor Mountain Boys will take to the stage at the RedLight Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia this Thursday night, April 16 at 9:00 p.m. for a two hour performance of songs from her current release “Walk This Mountain Down” as well as favorites from her 2007 release “When I Look Back”.  Ulisse always shares stories of how and why many of the songs she has recorded were written and is in the position to do so since she is a writer or co-writer on all twenty seven songs on these two CD releases.

The Poor Mountain Boys are made up of Rick Stanley on acoustic guitar and harmony vocals, Scott Neubert on dobro, acoustic guitar and harmonies, Greg Davis on banjo, Mike Sumner on mandolin and Bobby King on upright bass. Ulisse named the band after a song called “Poor Mountain Boy” on her new release that she wrote with her husband and frequent co-writer Rick Stanley who often steps up to the mic at shows and sings a few tunes. Folks in the audience are often surprised to hear him introduced as the writer of the bluegrass favorite “Home In The Mountains”.  He is also a cousin to Dr. Ralph Stanley.

Here’s hoping all the folks in the Atlanta area will make it out to the show. If you have yet to hear Ulisse perform live, you’re in for a real treat!
