Dolyle Lawson to record live Gospel DVD

Doyle Lawson, and his recently-reformulated edition of Quicksilver, are set to record a live concert video on January 15. This will be an all-Gospel project, with an expected release on DVD later in 2010 in celebration of Doyle’s 30th Anniversary as a bandleader.

The concert will be held at The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, NC, a 1500 seat theater in the Smokies, not far from the Georgia and Tennessee state lines.

Lawson released a live DVD, Through The Years, in 2005 to mark his 25th Anniversary. It included guest spots from many of the pickers and singers who served time in Quicksilver over those 25 years, but this new Gospel DVD will feature the current band exclusively. Dale Perry is on banjo, Jason Leek on bass, Josh Swift on resonator guitar, Corey Hensley on guitar and Doyle on mandolin.

They have worked up some new material for this video shoot, but some of the classic Quicksilver Gospel numbers are sure to be included as well.

Ticket information can be found online if you would like to attend the taping. We hope to get more details about a release date soon.
