Del celebrates another anniversary on New Years Day

2009 was a big year for Del McCoury. He celebrated 50 years of performing in bluegrass music with a 5 disc box set, and he has another big milestone to mark on New Years Day.

The 150th edition of McCoury’s radio show, Hand-Picked with Del McCoury, is set to air on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction channel.

Each week Del chooses music to air, along with his remarks and commentary, but a special episode is scheduled to air on New Year’s Day. Noted Nashville songwriter Jon Weisberger, who also produces the show each week for Del, has put together a memorable program hosted by Ronnie McCoury.

This will be a 2-hour show airing at 4:00 p.m. (EST) on January 1 and will feature music from the many vocal collaborations in which Del has participated – including a few yet unreleased. There will also be greetings and congratulations from McCoury’s peers, colleagues, family, and friends. You’ll hear memories and stories from Vince Gill, Earl Scruggs, Marty Stuart, Eddie Stubbs, Tim O’Brien, Alison Krauss, and Dierks Bently among others.

This extended anniversary edition of Hand-Picked with Del McCoury will be part of the annual Bluegrass Junction New Years Del-a-thon. They will have 10 straight hours of Del, starting at 6:00 a.m.

You can find Bluegrass Junction at XM 14 and Sirius 65.
