Celebration of Life for Jim Buchanan April 11

Event Details

Jim Buchanan

When we shared the news of bluegrass fiddler master Jim Buchanan’s passing last month, we referenced an upcoming Celebration of Life to be held at some point in the future.

That point is this weekend, on Saturday April 11, at the Oak Valley Baptist Church in Franklin, TN.

The service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, with visitation from noon until things start at 2:00.

Jim died on March 5 at 85 years of age, having been a prominent member of Jim & Jesse and The Virginia Boys and The Greenbrier Boys in his youth. He later worked on the road with top country acts like Mel Tillis and George Jones, and returned to bluegrass in 1982 to be part of Here Today, a memorable album playing with Vince Gill on guitar, Herb Pederson on banjo, Emory Gordy, Jr. on bass, and David Grisman on mandolin.

See much more about Buchanan’s long musical career in our March obituary remembrance.
