BMP begets CMP

Bluegrass Music Profiles magazine burst upon the scene in the Spring of 2003, at a time when conventional wisdom insisted that print media was on its way out. They started as a black and white journal, on newsprint, which by November 2007 had progressed to a glossy, color publication.

As the title suggests, the bi-monthly focuses on bluegrass artists, songwriters, promoters and other industry figures as personalities.

Their model has proved sufficiently successful for the publishers to launch a second magazine, Country Music Profiles, which debuted this month. Publisher Kevin Kerfoot tells us that CMP has the same look, feel and format of BMP.

“It will feature Q&A interviews with current and classic country artists, and will be available nationwide at the same bookstores that carry BMP. Subscriptions are $20 a year and can be purchased at www.countrymusicprofiles.com.

The Jan/Feb issue features a cover story with Rodney Atkins, as well as interviews with Craig Morgan, Eddie Montgomery, DJ Al Snyder, The Coldwater Canyon Band, Kenny Chesney bandmember Tim Hensley, The Grascals, Ken Mellons, Randy Houser, Trailer Choir, Lee Brice and songwriter Allen Shamblin.”
