Bass Strummit III in January 2011

Event Details

We heard yesterday from Mike Conner, producer of both the Roanoke Fiddlefest bluegrass festival, and more recently, the traveling Bass Strummit instructional workshops.

As we mentioned when Conner hosted his first event, there have long been plentiful such opportunities for students of banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle or resonator guitar, but not so much for bass players. The first Bass Strummit was held in January of this year, followed by another in northern Virginia during the first DC Bluegrass Festival in March.

Mike tells us that a third workshop has been scheduled for January 1-2, 2011 at the Mill Mountain Theater Atelier in Roanoke, VA. Repeating as an instructor is Jason Moore from Mountain Heart, who will be joined by veteran bass man Mark Schatz, currently touring with Claire Lynch. Noted upright technician Jerry Fretwell will also be on hand.

Anyone intereted in more details should give Conner a shout by phone (540-537-4082) or email.
